Never let go

So slowly it burns,

velvet flames lick your sweet skin.

Grief pours in like gasoline.

No prayer will save you now.

Each empty word,

a fan to the flame.

Helping hands begin to rescind,

floating away,

like an olive branch reduced to cinder,

but let mine be ablaze,

What use are they if they cannot hold yours?
