Sunlight

Kiss me, warm me,

softly scold me.

Show me secrets,

you’ll make me keep.

But when you leave,

 they will be,

dissolved, diminished,

 hastily retrieved.

Illuminate memories,

filled with joy.

Forgotten summers,

 forgotten boys.

Omnipresent, bold and bright.

Yet, always taken by the night.

You present yourself as warm and kind,

Perhaps you’re of another mind?

Dismiss our needs with cruel waves,

leave us tarnished by your days.

Always eager to spread drought,

or cast sadistic shadows,

of devouring doubt.

My Sun, my Sun,

 my loving Sun,

you’ll always be my only one.

Although you leave me,

 frail with fear.

I’d hate to see you disappear.
