I think if you’d have said goodbye it would’ve hurt less.
I always expected a grandiose final scene,
Exploding into raw emotion and hopeless heartache.
A few kind words,
left unread,
don’t seem to do it justice.
And rather than some sharp searing pain,
perpetuated by passion,
I find a dull ache of maybe?
And what if?
It could be seen as cruel,
The way you suckered my soul into this deluded devotion.
But I don’t see it that way.
No, I don’t see it like that at all.
We were too young,
Too rash and reckless,
Too in love.
